
Dehradun – Information received from Mr. Vishvjeet Sagar, the Regional Commissioner of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Dehradun, confirms that the Central Government has approved the new ‘Employment Linked Incentive’ (ELI) Scheme. Mr. Sagar described the initiative as a golden opportunity for both the nation’s youth and employers.
According to Mr. Sagar, this ambitious scheme, backed by an outlay of nearly ₹1 lakh crore, aims to generate over 3.5 crore new jobs nationwide within the next two years. He stated that this program will not only address the challenge of unemployment but will also be a milestone in formalizing the workforce and providing social security to employees.
Key Highlights of the Scheme, as per Regional Commissioner Sagar:
- Bonus for First-Time Employees: Mr. Sagar detailed that youth entering the workforce for the first time and registering with the EPFO will receive a one-month wage bonus, up to ₹15,000, as an incentive from the government. This amount will be disbursed in two installments.
- Incentives for Employers: Establishments and companies that hire new employees will be given a financial incentive of up to ₹3,000 per month for each new hire for a period of two years. For manufacturing units, this benefit will be extended for up to four years.
- Boost to Local Industries: He expressed confidence that the scheme would spur a wave of new hiring in the industrial areas of Dehradun and across Uttarakhand, giving a significant boost to the local economy.
Mr. Vishvjeet Sagar also clarified that the scheme’s benefits will apply to all new jobs created between August 1, 2025, and July 31, 2027. All payments will be processed via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) directly into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts. He affirmed that the EPFO, Dehradun, is fully prepared to ensure the smooth implementation of the scheme so that its benefits reach every eligible individual and establishment.
