New Delhi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the 50th G7 Summit in Italy from June 13 to 15, 2024. This marks his first foreign trip since being re-elected for a third term. During the summit, PM Modi is expected to engage in discussions on significant global issues such as Africa, climate change, development, artificial intelligence, and the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.
Additionally, PM Modi is likely to meet with US President Joe Biden and hold bilateral talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, which will be their second meeting after PM Meloni’s visit to India in March 2023. The outreach session of the summit, scheduled for June 14, will focus on issues relating to artificial intelligence, energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean.

On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi is also expected to hold bilateral talks with other world leaders, including a likely meeting with US President Joe Biden. These interactions are poised to further India’s interests and its perspective on issues critical to the Global South.
This year’s G7 summit under Italian presidency has outlined several key priorities, including the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, relations with developing nations, migration, climate change, energy, food security, and the impact of artificial intelligence on society.
According to a report by PTI, the G7 summit this year is likely to be dominated by the raging war in Ukraine as well as the conflict in Gaza.

US President Joe Biden, his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau are among the top leaders attending the G7 Summit in Italy.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is also scheduled for a session on the Russian invasion of his country.
