New Delhi: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today announced a significant sales milestone, with its flagship SUVs, the Toyota Fortuner and Legender, collectively surpassing the 300,000-unit sales mark in India. This achievement underscores the enduring popularity and commanding market position of these models in the premium SUV segment.
Launched in 2009, the Toyota Fortuner swiftly established itself as a benchmark for ruggedness and reliability. Its powerful diesel engine, robust off-road capabilities, distinctive styling, high ground clearance, and commanding road presence have been key to its long-standing appeal for both adventure enthusiasts and daily commuters.
The Legender, introduced in 2021 as a more luxurious variant, builds on the Fortuner’s strengths while offering premium enhancements such as a dual-tone exterior, a JBL audio system, wireless charging, and sequential LED turn indicators, catering to customers seeking a blend of opulence and performance.
Toyota attributes this enduring success to the models’ renowned durability, reliability, strong resale value, and low cost of ownership, all underpinned by the company’s globally respected QDR (Quality, Durability, and Reliability) philosophy.
Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President of Sales, Service, and Used Car Business at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, commented on the achievement: “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Fortuner and Legender fan base in India. These SUVs remain top choices for customers seeking luxury, performance, and reliability. Built on Toyota’s core engineering values, they continue to deliver satisfaction across every terrain and lifestyle.”
TKM also highlighted its T CARE customer service ecosystem, encompassing services like T DELIVER, T GLOSS, T SMILE, and T CHOICE, as a crucial factor in building and maintaining customer trust throughout the ownership journey.
The Toyota Fortuner is available with two engine options: a 2.7-litre petrol engine producing 166PS and 245Nm of torque (with 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission), and a 2.8-litre diesel engine delivering 204PS with 420Nm (manual) or 500Nm (automatic) of torque. The Legender is exclusively offered with the 2.8-litre diesel powertrain, featuring the same output and transmission choices. Both models provide 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain options.
Ex-showroom prices for the Toyota Fortuner range start at ₹33.78 lakh and go up to ₹51.94 lakh.thumb_upthumb_down
