kanpur: In Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district, a double-decker bus collided with a milk tanker, resulting in the deaths of 18 people and injuring more than 19 others. The accident occurred this morning at 5:15 AM. The scene was filled with chaos and screams after the collision. Several leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, have expressed their sorrow over the tragic incident.
President Droupadi Murmu expressed her grief over the incident, which occurred on Wednesday, calling it “extremely tragic.” In a post from Rashtrapati Bhavan on ‘X’, it was stated that the news of several deaths in the road accident on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, is extremely sad.
The President expressed her condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic accident. In her statement, she said, “I extend my deepest condolences to the family members of those who have lost their lives in this sudden and tragic incident, and I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) also posted on social media regarding the accident. The post stated, “The road accident in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, is extremely painful. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May God give them strength in this difficult time. I also wish for the speedy recovery of the injured. The local administration, under the supervision of the state government, is making every possible effort to help the victims.”
The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the next of kin of each deceased person in the Unnao accident. The injured will be given ₹50,000.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and directed the district administration to provide proper treatment to the injured. He also wished for their speedy recovery.
On ‘X’, CM Adityanath wrote, “The death of people in a road accident in Unnao district is extremely tragic and heart-wrenching. My condolences are with the bereaved families. The district administration officials have been directed to expedite the relief work at the site. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed souls a place at His feet and to heal the injured swiftly.”
According to information, the double-decker bus (UP95 T 4720) was traveling from Shivgarh in Bihar to the capital city of Delhi. As soon as the sleeper bus reached the airstrip in the Behta Mujawar police station area on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, it collided with a milk tanker.
The collision was so severe that the bus was completely shattered. The site of the accident was filled with bodies. Bodies were scattered all over the road, and there was chaos and screaming at the scene. In the accident, 18 passengers, including a child and several women, lost their lives, while 20 passengers were seriously injured. The police, who arrived after receiving information, transported the injured to the hospital.
